WHAT TO EXPECT

On Your First visit

  • Physical & Postural assessment

  • An introduction to some of the basic principles and exercises, in order to gain an understanding of how the technique works and assess you level of fitness. 

  • Verbal feedback throughout, to ensure you are working safely and correctly.

If you have experience with pilATES

  • You will be able to perform longer sequences of exercise where the focus will be on the controlled use of energy whilst building stamina and strength throughout

  • You will be encouraged to set new goals 

Subsequent Visits

  • Once your programme has been designed, it will include working with a range of equipment to reach your goals.

  • Weekly sessions are recommended for optimum results. 

  • Each session lasts for 1 hour.

If you are a ‘Pilates convert’ or regular attendee

  • You will perform complex sequences requiring both strength and flexibility, examining the aesthetic of movement

  • Have a good understanding of injury rehabilitation and prevention

If you are new to this technique

  • You will be introduced to the use of Lateral Thoracic breathing and gain insight into how this breathing technique can not only be a preventative measure for back pain, but can also be a tool when dealing with stress!

  • You will learn the basics of stabilisation through the strengthening of the pelvic and shoulder girdle, the spine and abdominals 

  • You will work specifically on your goal or area of concern

  • Where appropriate, you will be introduced to a stretching element to increase mobility / flexibility
